Joseph (Jr.) Jones VEAZIE
228
Dow has birthdate 1853 Jan 8. In 1870, Joseph, apprentice to shoe and book maker, is listed in the household of Abner Bills, a boot and shoe manufacturer. In 1900, 1910 and 1920 he is listed as a shoe or boot maker, or cobbler, with his own shop.
Mabel apparently married first, 1896 Dec 23, Oscar A Tolman of S Thomaston, ME. He was probably the son of Isaac and Ava Tolman of S Thomaston. The 1930 census for "Mabel E Veazie," age 52, lists her as a widow, married first at age 19, or about 1897. Perhaps she and Oscar divorced as he is also listed as marrying H G Lamb in 1907 and he appears in later censuses with spouse Gertrude.
Locations:
In 1920, Joseph, listed as a widower, has listed in his household his son Fred, Fred's wife Grace, and Fred's daughter Katherine.
Suspiciously, there is an 1880 census listing in Rockland for Joseph Veazie (teamster) and wife Abbie S., both age 27, but both born Canada and all parents born in Canada.
